8th International Aortic Summit Announced
Over 200 cardiac surgeons gather in Chennai for South Asia’s largest Aortic Diseases Summit
Chennai 20th November: Institute of Cardiac & Advanced Aortic Disorders (ICAAD) – SIMS Hospital is hosting the “8th International Aortic Summit 2018”, from 22nd – 24th November 2018. The summit will witness participation of over 200 veteran Cardiac & Cardiothoracic Surgeons from all over India. A plentiful presence of foreign faculties from Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Japan, Belgium, Oman and Canada will edify the participants. Mr. Ravi Pachamoothoo, Chairman – SRM Group will grace the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. Dr. Raju Sivasamy, Vice President – SIMS Hospital will preside over the summit. The academic sessions will proceed under the guidance of the Course Director Dr. V.V. Bashi, Director – ICAAD, SIMS Hospital.
“There is an increase in the number of patients with aortic diseases in India, and a severe shortage of specialists trained in Aortic Surgery prevails. Approximately 6 lakh people suffer from various types of Aortic Aneurysms in India every year; out of which only 1000 people are getting treated. The prime objective of this international Aortic Summit is to provide decision-making and technical skills to Cardiac Surgeons and impart knowledge on the recent updates in treating Aortic diseases. This will in turn benefit our patients by providing affordable treatment.” Said Dr. V.V. Bashi.

This Summit is set to exchange knowledge and experiences on treatment and management of Aortic Diseases. A large segment of people are affected by various kinds of Aneurysms in India. Dissecting Aneurysm is a very serious aortic disease that results in higher mortality rate in the first 24 hours without treatment. Various modalities of treating this disease will be presented and discussed during the Summit.
