Welcome Message
Welcome to SIMS Hospitals, Chennai – where excellence in neurosurgical care meets innovation and compassion.
Since our establishment in 2014, we've strived to become a prominent center for advanced neurosurgery in South India. Conducting nearly 1000 intricate neurological surgeries annually, we aim to meet the region's demand for specialized care.
Our facilities feature advanced operating rooms equipped with neuro-monitoring, Intraoperative Ultrasound and neuronavigation systems, ensuring precise and safe procedures. Our multidisciplinary team specializes in various neurosurgical sub-specialties, from cerebrovascular to pediatric surgeries, from complex spinal interventions to endoscopic skull base surgeries, along with specialist in auxiliary fields like neuro-anaesthesia, neuropathology , neurophysiology, and neuro-critical care. We believe in fostering institutional practice and sub-specialization development while maintaining academic excellence. We have been actively participating in national and international conferences and are proud to host and organize the 2025 National Skull Base Surgery Conference, which reflects our commitment to professional growth.
Through our Observership program, we strive to mentor the next generation of neurosurgeons, offering valuable insights into our patient-centric approach in Neuro-oncological pathologies. Join us at SIMS Hospitals, it's more than just a learning opportunity; it's a chance for young neurosurgeons to immerse themselves in our work culture, ethics, and patient-centric approach.

Advanced Neuro-Oncosurgery - Master Class Series
The residency program in India educates young neurosurgeons on neurosurgical pathologies within a government setup, emphasizing vicarious responsibility. However, upon completion, they face transition to individual-based responsibility in the real world, often encountering challenges due to this sudden shift in working environment and access to advanced technologies without knowing its intricacies. While international fellowships do offer such exposure but replicating that knowledge into the work culture in Indian health care, is challenging. Thus, such short observership programs are warranted. In an era of evolving technologies, interacting with colleagues at high-volume centers is vital for staying updated and understanding optimal technology utilization. These programs not only enhance surgical skills but also help your managerial abilities in a private healthcare set up.
Goal
To provide a unique opportunity for Young Neurosurgeons to experience first-hand knowledge of managing complex Neuro-oncological (cranial and spinal) pathologies in a corporate hospital with special emphasis on good practices and to understand and emulate advanced technologies like- neuronavigation, Intra-op USG and Intra-op Neuromonitoring and Awake Anaesthesia in managing complex neuro-oncosurgical pathologies.
Who Will it Benefit the Most
Open to only 10 participants worldwide, this program welcomes neurosurgeons with less than 10 years of experience post-qualification, as well as DrNB 6th year students who have passed the national board final exam. With an age limit of under 40 years, we ensure a dynamic and diverse cohort for each session.
Our commitment to education doesn't end with this program; it's a recurring event held every six months. Waitlisted candidates receive priority for subsequent sessions, ensuring equitable access to this invaluable opportunity.
Qualified candidates may gain hands-on experience assisting in surgical cases and navigating state-of-the-art neurosurgical operating rooms.
We have curated this observership keeping in the mind the needs of young neurosurgeons who are either practice alone or in a smaller group. The good practices in Neuro-oncosurgery can be emulated in their daily professional life and can further their careers, bringing benefits to the lives of their patients.
Join us at SIMS Hospitals, where the future of neurosurgery is shaped through collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
