Robotic Knee Replacement
The NAVIO system is a recent advancement in the field of Knee replacement surgery. Every NAVIO procedure has a personalized plan based on the unique anatomy of a person. The system helps the surgeon to achieve precise positioning of the tools during surgery. This level of accuracy can help improve the function, feel and longevity of the knee implant and joint.
This innovative technology provides robotic assistance through an advanced computer program. Before a Knee replacement surgery, the computer scans and relays precise information about the patient’s knee joint to a robotics-assisted arm. By using this patient-specific information, the computer establishes boundaries for the robotics-assisted arm, so that the surgeon can balance the Knee joint and position components with greater precision.

Endoscopy Suite
SIMS Hospital boasts of an in-house Endoscopy Suite that is equipped with an array of most sophisticated technologies for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
The Olympus – UCT180 Endo-ultrasound system, available only in few hospitals in the country, is the cornerstone of the set-up. This equipment helps doctors with precise endoscopic examination ever by enabling high-resolution 2D image acquisition, even from deeper tissue layers. The round transducer design maximizes patient safety by reducing the risk of tissue perforation during insertion of echo-endoscope. It also accurately renders the minutest of blood vessels and mucosal structure that allows precise identification staging of malicious tissues including GI tumours.

Aesthetic Laser
The Department of Aesthetic Dermatology at SIMS is equipped with state-of-the-art laser technologies to treat anomalies of skin and preserving cosmetic appeal. The “Cynosure – Cynergy” is an advanced aesthetic laser device that combines the platforms of Long Pulsed Nd:YAG laser and Pulse Dye laser, accommodated into a single machine.
1. Long-pulsed Nd:YAG Laser is a state of the art laser that is used for removing unwanted hair. It is far ahead of the existing laser hair removal techniques in terms of efficacy and safety. Apparently, it requires fewer sessions and has no downtime, making it the best laser hair removal technology today. The machine has additional features to target the melanocytes (pigment cells) on pigmented skin to give a natural cosmetic outcome. It can be combined with many other cosmetic procedures without the concerns of side effects.
2. The Pulse Dye Laser is one of the proud possessions of SIMS. This technology is available only at two places in South India, SIMS being one of them. It is used to remove vascular anomalies of skin in a painless way. The laser helps avoid prolonged surgeries and certain medications.
The Laser device at SIMS also has a Cooling system that soothes the skin simultaneously during exposure to laser beams.

Mammogram
The “Senographe Essential” Mammography system from GE is one of the remarkable technology available at SIMS Hospitals, for women’s care. While technologically the machine achieves excellent image quality with low radiation dose, the ergonomic design ensures patient comfort during the scan. Moreover, it also brings convenience to the technician for perfect patient positioning and reduces scan duration. It is the most premium model available for Full-field Digital Mammography with a dual-track X-Ray tube, which has auto optimization capabilities to easily spot breast tissues of different density.
Mammography is X-Ray imaging of breasts that helps detect lesions and abnormal growths, including Cancerous tissues. It can be used for Preventive screening or for diagnostic purposes. Although there is no ideal age to undergo a Mammogram screening, women having risk factors of breast cancer are often recommended to take up regular mammograms from the age of late 30s. Because early detection of breast cancer improves the treatment and survival prospects. Women are also advised to practice self-breast examination to identify any abnormalities that can be further confirmed by a Mammogram.

CT Scan
CT scan is a versatile and revolutionary technology in medical science that has transformed the diagnostic landscape. It helps doctors precisely identify anomalies in the internal tissues to diagnose Joint problems, complex bone fractures, Tumours, Blood clots, Infections etc. In accident and emergency cases doctors use this machine to locate internal injuries and bleeding.
A CT scanner works similar to X-Ray technology but more sophisticated in image rendering. The X-Ray source along with an array of detectors revolves around the patient and creates 2-dimensional images of different cross-sections. These 2-D images are finally combined together by a sophisticated computer system to create a complete 3-dimensional image of the required body part. Sometimes, to have fine image definition, the patients are given contrast materials (Orally or by injection)to make the targeted tissue appear different than the surrounding tissues.
