SIMS Hospital has moved to the centralized distribution of medical oxygen with the inauguration of the Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) unit in the hospital campus in front of B Block. Dr Raju Sivasamy, Vice President – Medical inaugurated the facility on 17 December 2016 in the presence of the engineering and operations team and other members of SIMS Hospital staff. The new LMO unit will supply liquid medical oxygen to the central oxygen unit from where supply will be made at a constant pressure throughout the hospital. The unit has several advantages. It will reduce cylinder handling and therefore, the inherent risks to people involved in handling the gas. Other features are the reduction of cost, effort and time on purchase of gas cylinders.
The LMO unit is another milestone in upgrading facilities at SIMS Hospital to bring enhanced patient comfort and service.
