The Department of Psychiatry at SIMS Hospital offers an entire complement of diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals suffering from mental health problems as a part of outpatient and inpatient services. The psychiatry team have the expertise of managing patients with complex mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and also treating patients presenting with co-morbid medical/surgical conditions who also present with complex psychological/psychiatric conditions. Evaluations are conducted with strict confidentiality and by a multi-disciplinary team. Family is an integral part of the treatment and every attempt is made to engage the family in the comprehensive treatment of the individual with their consent.

Our psychiatrists are internationally trained with special training in child and adolescent psychiatry, liaison psychiatry, psychiatry for the elderly and working-age adult psychiatry. Our psychiatry team expertise involves managing psychiatric emergencies, challenging behaviours, complex mental health conditions such as Schizophrenia, Dementia, Eating Disorders, substance misuse, depression and anxiety disorders. Management involves pharmacological treatment, psychological treatment, nursing support and carer support.
